- A native speaker of the target language with significant
writing experience.

- In effect all proofreaders, as proofreaders are generally
required to grade the work they proofread.
- rewriter
- A proofreader who edits the written text of a non-native
speaker.
- translator
- Someone who performs a translation with or without specialized
training or experience in the author-client's subject area. The
term translator is used interchangeably with that of translator-generalist,
translator-proofreader, and translator-specialist according to
context.
- translator-generalist
- A translator with good knowledge in the language of origin
and target language, but maybe lacking in expertise with regard
to the author-client's area of interest.
- translator-proofreader
- A proofreader with good knowledge of the language of origin.
- translator-specialist
- A translator with specialized training or experience in the
author-client's subject area.
